Near-Real Time Tropical Storm Simulation System (NRT-TSSS)

NRT-TSSS provides a near-real time prediction of tropical storm and thunderstorm for Thailand and Lower Mekong Subregion (LMS). A Weather Research and Forecast model (WRF), developed at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) which is operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), was applied at grid resolution of 12km x 12km with a 5-day forecast. The modeling system was configured following tools and guidances in WRF Model Users' Page. Preliminary, NRT-TSSS is an effort to simulate tropical storm pathway and also predict thunderstorm risk area in the domain. The system is under my personal interest hence the predicted outputs are NOT OFFICIAL. The purpose of this system is purely for research and development. This SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS OFFICIAL forecast. Users should consider modeling uncertainty and use at your own risk.

Product Description

New product of daily total precipitation is provided for tracking thunderstorm risk area over Thailand.

NRT-TSSS provides a beta version of daily simulated total precipitation in Thailand at resolution of 12km. The total precipitation is plotted in the unit of millimeter (mm). Time is in UTC (+7hr for Bangkok Time Zone). Again, the model outputs are NOT OFFICIAL, PLEASE USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I would ask users of NRT-TSSS product (beta version) to include in any purposes the following acknowledgement: "We acknowledge use of precipitation tendency product provided by the Near-Real Time Tropical Storm Simulation System (NRT-TSSS) of Sompoke Kingkaew, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand."

Here, your kind communication and suggestion are welcome. For more information, please submit your questions regarding to the prodcuts to airsompoke@gmail.com.
